How providers are verified

When you refer a participant through MD Home Care, you are referring to a provider cross-checked against the official Australian registers. Here is what is verified before a provider appears in the directory.

NDIS register cross-check

Every NDIS-registered provider listed is verified against the NDIS Commission register. Registration numbers and approved support groups are pulled from the official register, not self-declared.

Aged care approval status

Aged care approved status reflects the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care approved provider list, including service types and category groups.

ABN verification

Every listing includes an Australian Business Number. Providers without a valid, active ABN do not appear in our directory.

Complaints process

If you or a participant has a concern, the NDIS Commission handles complaints about NDIS providers and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission handles aged care complaints. We also accept complaints via our own channel.

About Household Tasks

Household Tasks covers assistance with domestic activities the participant cannot do themselves due to their disability. This includes house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, lawn mowing, and basic home maintenance. Funded under Core Supports, these services maintain a safe and liveable home environment.

With 930 providers across all states and territories, household tasks is a specialist registration group. Provider availability varies by location, so check suburb-level results for accurate coverage.

Household Tasks Pricing

The following NDIS price limits apply under the 2025-26 NDIS Pricing Arrangements. These are maximum rates for standard metropolitan areas. Remote and very remote loadings apply in eligible areas.

Line Item Description Price Limit
01_004_0107_1_1 Assistance with Personal Domestic Activities $59.06 per hour

Evening, Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday rates are higher than weekday daytime rates shown above.

What Household Tasks Covers

The Household Tasks registration group includes the following services. When referring, match the specific service type to the participant's plan goals and funded line items.

House Cleaning

Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, bathroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning. Funded where the participant cannot do these tasks due to their disability.

Laundry

Washing, drying, folding, ironing. Often combined with cleaning visits.

Lawn Mowing and Gardening

Basic lawn maintenance, garden upkeep, and yard tidying. Does not include major landscaping or garden renovation.

Meal Preparation

Preparing meals for the participant when they cannot cook independently. Different from teaching cooking skills (which falls under Capacity Building).

Common Referral Scenarios

Real-world situations where you would refer a participant for household tasks.

1.

A participant living alone has limited household task funding in their plan. Help them prioritise which tasks to outsource (typically cleaning and lawn care) and which they can manage or learn to do themselves.

2.

A participant's household task provider is inconsistent and unreliable. Switch to a provider with stronger quality assurance and worker consistency.

What to Expect After Referral

Household task providers usually send the same worker on a regular schedule (weekly or fortnightly). Services are straightforward and typically require minimal coordination once set up. The main thing to monitor is whether the service is actually being delivered to a reasonable standard.

Red Flags to Watch For

Warning signs that a household tasks provider may not be delivering quality services.

Workers spending less time than billed

Quality of cleaning consistently poor

Provider sending different workers each visit without notice

Billing for tasks not completed

Household Tasks is often combined with Daily Personal Activities (same worker, same visit), and connects with Daily Living Skills development (transitioning from having tasks done to learning to do them independently).

Referral Tips for Household Tasks

Household task funding is often limited in plans. Help participants prioritise which tasks to outsource vs build skills for. Check whether a combined personal care and household task provider would be more efficient than separate referrals. For participants living in shared housing, clarify which household tasks are the participant's responsibility vs the SIL provider's.
